A new powerhouse in the fast-growing market for information-driven services – Atea acquires growth company Gambit

The IT service provider Atea Finland Oy acquires Gambit Labs Ab Oy, a Vaasa-based growth company focused on the development of digital services. On the fast-growing market for information management, the acquisition creates a constellation that will assist in all needs for data-driven businesses. Atea aims to increase the revenue of information-driven services tenfold by the end of 2024.

The estimated turnover of the Gambit Group, established in 2011, for the financial year ended March 2022 was almost EUR 4 million, an increase of more than 40 percent compared to the previous financial year. The company employs approximately 50 people in Vaasa, Pietarsaari and Varkaus.

Gambit focuses on digital service solutions: system and application development, system integration, data analytics, and user interface and user experience design. The company’s customers include ABB, Andritz, Walki, Mirka and Snellman.

“The big trends in technology and working life digitalisation, knowledge management, the use of artificial intelligence and the explosion of data –  are constantly increasing the demand for information management solutions. Together with Gambit, we form a constellation that can provide customers with the most comprehensive service on the market and the highest expertise in developing information-driven business.

Gambit’s services and solutions will be the core of our information management business, and together our teams will further strengthen and expand our offering”, says Juha Sihvonen, CEO of Atea Finland Oy.

“Information management is one of the three cornerstones of our offering. Our goal is to increase our information management revenue tenfold by the end of 2024, and this acquisition is a key part of implementing our strategy.”

Gambit will continue operating under its own name and with its current team for now.

“We couldn’t have gotten a better new owner than Atea. As part of Atea, we are able to accelerate our growth and expand our customer base. For our employees, completely new career paths and development opportunities open up as part of the team of the largest IT infrastructure supplier in the Nordic and Baltic countries. An important factor in finding a common tone was also that our values meet,” says Tim Wallin, CEO of Gambit.

Alongside information management, the key areas of Atea’s offering are digital workplace solutions and hybrid platforms. The turnover for Atea Finland Oy was EUR 339.8 million last year. The company’s headquarters and logistics center are located in Vantaa, and the company has eleven offices throughout Finland one of them in Vaasa.
